Enjoy Healthy Eating!

June 22nd, 2008 by rubencreasman

By Ingela Berger Can you enjoy healthy eating? Some people seem to think that healthy eating is some kind of punishment. On the contrary, it’s a pleasure! There are so many delicious dishes that can be made with less fat and sugar. It’s a new world to discover. When I go out for dinner or cook in my own kitchen I often choose a vegetarian meal. There are lots of different ingredients to choose from and the combination possibilities are almost endless. Sometimes I just pick a few products in the store without having any idea of what to do with them and then I surprise myself with a new tasty dish. It’s fun! Use your imagination. Eat what you enjoy and enjoy what you eat! You don’t have to exclude meat in your food, but we all need much more vegetables. We should try to see the vegetables not just as accompaniments, but as a meal in itself, with its own value. Relax! Try to give yourself time in the kitchen. You need to slow down and be free from stress to be able to enjoy eating. Think of your time in the kitchen as an important part of your day. Make your kitchen a place where you can relax and feel comfortable. Make it nice, put a cloth on the table and some flowers. Light candles. Many people seem to want to get out of the kitchen as soon as possible. If you feel that way, you won’t be able to enjoy your meal. Be present, focus on the meal, don’t watch TV or read any paper or magazine while you’re eating. Enjoy the food, see how it looks, feel the appetizing smell and taste of it. Eat slowly! When you are enjoying something you want it to last long, right? Eat slowly, take your time to enjoy every bite. Chew it well. When you eat slowly like this you will notice that your body will tell you when it’s time to finish. You will know when you are content and you can avoid eating too much. Stop eating when you feel content even if there is still food on your plate. Make a small lifestyle change! When you go to a restaurant next time, order something new that you haven’t tried before. Next time you go to the store, buy some low fat or light products that you haven’t tried. Find out if they really are as boring as you might think they are. Maybe you’ll be surprised. Maybe you will find new favourites and get new ideas for delicious meals to enjoy! Then you have made a small lifestyle change. And all major achievements start with the first step. How Do Secured Loans Work?

June 19th, 2008 by rubencreasman

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Winters]John Winters A secured loan is just a generic term for a specific type of loan. It is secured because it gives the lender some sort of security that it will be repaid (other than the personal promise of the person who takes out the loan). If you are issued a secured loan, you are putting up property as collateral. This means that if you do not repay the loan, the lender is entitled to take the property to ensure that they get their money back. (Since you need property to apply for or receive a secured loan, it is also sometimes known as a homeowners loan.) One reason that people apply for secured loans, as opposed to other types of loans, is that secured loans usually carry a relatively low interest rate. This is because from the banks perspective the risk of issuing the loan is greatly decreased, as you are putting up collateral. Since risk and loan interest rates are directly proportional, lowering the banks risk tends to lower the interest rate of the loan. Of course, with a secured loan, the person receiving the loan is shouldering more of the risk, even as the bank shoulders less. Secured loans are a popular way for homeowners to get cash to complete home improvement projects. For instance, you may wish to renovate your bathroom–but not have the money to do this. Using the equity you own in your home as collateral, you can get a secured loan and thus be able to undertake the home improvement project. Such a project might not only please you by improving the look and functionality of your house, but it will probably also increase its value substantially. In this way, a homeowner can nearly break even on home improvement projects, and it is not even necessary to have the cash on hand to finance them! Of course, to do this you must be willing to accept some risk, since you could lose your house if for some reason you are unable to repay the loan. Before obtaining a secured loan, it is imperative that a person analyze their financial situation carefully. It is always wise to be conservative when estimating personal cash inflows and outflows to avoid being caught in a pinch. But if a person is willing and able to put up their property as collateral, a secured loan is a viable solution to get a low-interest loan. John Winters writes about a variety of financial topics. He recommends http://www.accepted.co.uk to search for secured loan deals. I Want To Lose Weight But I Can’t It’s Too Hard!

June 15th, 2008 by rubencreasman

By El Veasey The first thing people who want to lose weight have to learn to deal with are feelings of ambivalence about losing weight! (Part of them wants to lose weight and part of them doesn’t.) Part of this ambivalence, is fueled by the inertia involved in trying to change any habit that one has been doing on a frequent basis for a long time. (Inertia is the resistance of a habit to change.) To redirect it or to slow it down takes more energy than most of us are willing to expend! We may start out being gung-ho about changing it but after a while, we feel it’s just easier and less tiring to continue the habit as before! Another reason they may feel ambivalent about losing weight is, they have to pay more attention to what they eat then they did before! This can seem to be just too much of a hassle and not worth the effort to do! An Additional Factor If youre dieting and feel youre depriving yourself of the food you enjoy. Youll be torn between your desire to lose weight and your desire to eat! The more deprived you feel the more resistant youll be to losing weight! Other Factors You may have negative expectations about losing weight! You want to lose weight but consciously or unconsciously feel you can’t! You may have a lack of confidence in your ability to lose weight because of negative conditioning and past experiences of failure trying to lose weight! You may be unrealistic about how fast, how much and how easily you should lose weight! Your goals may be so unrealistic that after repeated attempts and failures you may become so discouraged you give up trying to lose weight! More factors You may eat to help you cope with stress or boredom! Or eat as a way of suppressing anger! Instead of verbalizing anger, you eat and eat compulsively! The more you suppress your anger, the more compulsively you eat! The more compulsively you eat, the more you suppress your anger and so on and on in never ending cycle! You may have a love affair with food! You just really like to eat! You like the taste of food! The way it looks! The color of it! The smell of it! Its texture! You enjoy eating so much you tend to overeat and overeat frequently! Environmental Factors Advertising is another factor influencing why it may be hard for you to lose weight! Television is saturated with images enticing you to have fun and to feel good about yourself by eating the products being broadcast! Print, radio and billboard advertising are constantly bombarding you with the idea of experiencing fun and excitement when the products being advertised are eaten! The emphasis is on instant gratification, indulging your appetite, impulsively buying and eating food! You may find it hard to lose weight because instead of focusing on how to make it easier for you to lose weight, you focus on how hard it is for you to lose weight! Instead of thinking about all the foods you can eat! You think about all the foods you can’t eat! You start feeling deprived and feeling deprived makes you overeat! Changing Habits. If you want to lose weight or change a habit the first step is to, (1) Decide if that’s what you really want to do! (2) Realize that you may have two minds about it! (Ambivalence) (3) Make a commitment to changing it! (4) Write out a plan with clearly defined realistic goals! (Goals you’re capable of attaining!) (5) Seek counseling if you’re having trouble sticking to your plan! (6) If you slip up! Allow yourself a few minutes to feel guilty, then get back on track! (7) Don’t hold setbacks against yourself, It’s self-defeating! (8) Practice, Practice, Practice! (9) Give yourself credit for the effort youre making! (10) Recognize any progress you make no matter how insignificant! (11) Keep going even if you have setbacks! (12) You can do it! I hope you’ve enjoyed this article as much as I enjoyed writing it! And I hope you find it helpful! Good-Luck! Copyright 2000 El-Veasey Publishing Inc. Wedding Bouquet: Think Different

June 7th, 2008 by rubencreasman

By Jen Carter A simple and elegant wedding bouquet is the perfect accessory to compliment your gorgeous gown and smiling face. We say simple because you want your wedding bouquet to highlight your dress, not detract from it. If your bouquet is too flashy, your dress may not receive the attention it deserves. Nevertheless, this is not to say that your bridal bouquet should be plain, white, and boring. Thats not the case at all. Just keep the flashiness in check! As a matter of fact, its become very popular for the modern bride to use pastel colors in their bridal bouquets. Soft pinks and blues can add a magnificent touch to any wedding dress. The hues are very uplifting and pleasant. Believe it or not, not everyone prefers a bouquet of fresh flowers. Many women have allergies, which prevent them from enjoying the subtle scent a fresh flower can bring. To accommodate these brides, many florists make bouquets of silk flowers. Instead of frowning at this idea, consider the advantage of silk flowers: like your love, silk flowers will never wither. Theyre a keepsake that will last for years! In addition, silk flowers require less maintenance during the course of the evening, and theyre usually less costly. However, if you have your heart set on a bouquet of real wedding flowers, have you considered wild flowers? This is a wonderful idea if youre having a garden-style or country wedding in the outdoors. The colors and scents are spectacular and very pleasing to the senses. They will look magnificent with any dress in the spring or summer. Unfortunately, wildflowers do not really go with the theme of a winter wedding. If you havent decided what type of flowers to use for your wedding bouquet, mull these options over. Use your resources (such as the internet) to look at different varieties of silk flowers and real wild flowers. Several wildflowers that are suggested are: Queen Annes lace, poppies, Canada Lily, European Columbine, New England Aster, true forget-me-not, Indian blanket, and Carolina Spring Beauty. Dont be afraid to ask your local florist for quotes on bouquets of such flowers in comparison to other fresh flowers. You might discover that youll save a bundle going the route of wildflowers as opposed to a bouquet of roses and another variety. While youre at the florist, ask to see pictures of different wildflower bouquets and silk bouquets (which they may have arranged). They say a picture says a thousand words! You might be blown away by a bouquet arrangement that you may not have considered before Jen Carter is owner of My Wedding Blog, a free wedding planning guide about weddings. Mobile Phone Terms Explained - SMS, GPRS, GSM Explained

May 29th, 2008 by rubencreasman

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Martin_Burgess]Martin Burgess What is 3G The download speeds surpass that of GPRS many times. Products include video calls, videomessaging plus voice calls and SMS. Multimedia functionality allows you to play music, send pictures and video clips and play games real time. What is GPRS GPRS sits on top of GSM technology and mobile service providers can offer the generalpacket radio service to its subscribers as an always on connection rather than thetraditional dial up data connections. So what are the benefits of GPRS to the user? For a start its always on, the mobile device will gain an IP address from the DHCP poolavailable at each cell, the network will then allow you to exchange data whenever you needto without having to dial up an authenticate. Practical uses of this allow for swiftrecovery of email with frequent pop3 checks of your mailbox and messenger styleapplications can work on GPRS too so having MSN on your mobile is possible, althoughSymbian messenger and other 3rd party applications are far more common. What is GSM The international, pan-European operating standard for the current generation of digitalcellular mobile communications. It enables mobile phones to be used across nationalboundaries. The arrival of GSM technology gave the chance for a different type of data connection onewhere data is moved in packets, IP data is already packetised and bytes of info are sentall round the world in this form everyday GSM networks are made up of a number of transmitters or cells each of these can have arange of a few kilometres or just a few hundred meters depending on their proximity toeach other What is MP3 MP3 stands for MPEG layer 3 audio, MPEG being a form of compression used in both video andaudio, so why compress why not just capture digitally, well its all down to size, in thiscase size of captured files a WAV file (the standard for CD) produces massive files whicheven with the event of broadband connections are just too big, for example a 1 minute fileequates to 10mb of storage. What is SMS Short Message Service (SMS) is a quick and simple way to communicateshort messages via mobile phones, handheld devices, and increasingly even landlinetelephones. Commonly known as text messages, SMSes, or even texts the practice has spreadrapidly throughout the world, evident by the fact that 500 billion such messages were sentin the last year alone. What is WAP WAP phones don’t display graphics and the sites only offer text. Typically this is menusand scrollable lists form which you choose an option and an information list will bedisplayed. WAP Phone uses can include sending and receiving email, accessing news, weather, schedules, financial data and the like; all in a mobile environment (like in the middle ofa field) - an advantage the PC can never truly emulate. What is Bluetooth Everybody has heard of it, but what is Bluetooth. It’sa great feature, developed by Sony Ericsson, that enables other Bluetooth devices tocommunicate with your mobile phone. It’s great for downloading photos taken with yourmobile to your pc. It’s also invaluable for synchronising your mobile’s calendar andscheduler features with your PC. Most good mobiles have features that integrate toMicrosoft’s Outlook Express, this enables tasks and events to be entered on the PC thendownloaded at your convenience to the mobile phone. Another great use is to swap photos and contact numbers with your mates, providing theyalso have Bluetooth mobiles, of course. To connect to the PC requires a “dongle” to be fitted to your PC, usually in theUSB slot, and the software to be installed on your PC. That’s all there is to it. Tips for Locating a New Vegetable Garden

May 26th, 2008 by rubencreasman

By J Ruppel The key to starting a new vegetable garden is the actual garden location. You can change many things about a garden, even upgrading the soil with compost and other amendments, but the location is something that you will have to live with. A successful garden will have several common elements: Convenient to the house: If the garden is too far removed, you won’t be inclined to run out there to pick something fresh whenever the mood strikes. Additionally, if you are tilling or hauling in waste for the compost pile, you don’t want to go a long way with your equipment. The same goes for hauling bags of fertilizer, flats of plants, or bales of peat moss to the vegetable garden. Finally, if you have to irrigate with the garden hose, you don’t want to be dragging long sections of hose from the house. Screening: Depending on your individual gardening style, you may decide that it is better to shield the garden from view if you are not one that likes to keep it neat and tidy. If you plan to have an open compost pile near the garden that may be a concern as well. Sunlight: Obviously, to have a successful vegetable garden, you will need an adequate amount of sunlight. You should get at least 6 hours a day. Often this means you need a southern exposure. But take a look around, are there trees that will be growing to a height in the near future that will reduce this sunlight. Nearby trees and bushes: We worry a lot about weeds, but keep in mind the invasive root systems from trees and other large bushes. Spreading trees with shallow root systems like willows are to be avoided. We’ve had bushes like trumpet creepers and honeysuckle that can have very aggressive root systems as well. Drainage: Take advantage of the natural lay of the land to optimize your garden watering. But be careful to avoid low spots that can lead to puddling and pooling, which are major problems for growing almost all vegetables. Critters: Finally, depending on the local “pests”, you may want to be able to shield the garden from attack. While birds can often get in almost anywhere, you may decide you want to fence the garden in to avoid visits from deer, raccoons, turtles, rabbits, or any other walking critters. A garden can be a wonderful pastime, paying off not only in fresh produce for your kitchen table, but in the connection with nature. Careful selection of your garden location will help to ensure that it is as rewarding as possible. What Makes Americans Hate Their Jobs? This Advice Turns That Epidemic Around

May 18th, 2008 by rubencreasman

By Theresa Castro Here are the sobering facts: studies show that almost 70% of all employees dislike or downright hate their jobs. These dissatisfied, disillusioned people have no further career goals. Dreading the workday is a common heartache in millions of homes. Our job-hating crisis leads to lower productivity, adversely affects our economy, and — worst of all — causes strain on personal relationships. So what’s the remedy for this epidemic? The answers are here and clear, according to sought-after career coach and author of The Dark Before the Dawn: 70 Secrets to Self-discovery, Theresa Castro. She offers a five step process that can change anyone’s career for the better. Here’s a quick summary: 1) Uncover the facts. You should ask yourself, “How did I end up in my current job?” Too often, people end up in a career that they dislike because they heard that it paid well or perhaps their parents encouraged them to pursue a financially “safe” occupation such as accounting, medicine, law, engineering or law enforcement. In other cases, individuals decided to follow the same profession as their parents. 2) Understand what is keeping you in your current job. You need to think about why you continue to stay in a career that you dislike or hate. Some people say that they have too much debt or a lifestyle to maintain while others say that they just simply rely on their steady paycheck. 3) Unleash the potential. Ask yourself, “If I had one year to live and I could have any job, what would I do?” The answers to this question can be quite amazing and many times, we already know the answer to this question. However, we tend to ignore our hidden passions and dreams because we put limitations on ourselves. We think things like, “I won’t get paid as much” or “It will take me forever to start a new career or to start my own business.” 4) Update your resume and compare your skill set. Dust off your resume and make notes of all of skills and talents that you have acquired over the years. Next, create an inventory of the resources and skills that you must possess in order to perform your dream career. With these two items in hand, compare them and make a final list of what you need to accomplish. 5) Undertake an action plan. Take your list from step 4 and develop an action plan that outlines your desired goals. Breakdown larger goals into smaller goals and give yourself a deadline. Recognize that individuals only need to commit to one hour everyday to working on their plan. This one hour will give you the strength to keep the job that you hate while you work towards attaining a career that you love. Toning, Light Weights, & High Reps for Weight Loss & Bodysculpting

May 14th, 2008 by rubencreasman

By Craig Ballantyne I guess you could say it is my mission to show people thevalue of intense strength training for fat loss. Every month more research comes out to support intense trainingover slow cardio, and light weights. And each week, in real-life,more and more men and women (yes, women too!) see the benefits ofpushing themselves with strength training. The evidence from research and real-life continues to pile up thatyou need to put down those light weights and cut out those highreps. Take really light weights, add in isolation exercises, and repeatfor a large number of reps. Do this for 3, 6, or 12 months, andyou’re guaranteed to have the same physique you have today. Thisapproach just does not work. You need to step out of your comfort zone with strength training. Research has shown using a weight that enables only 8 reps per setresults in a greater post-exercise metabolism than using a weightthat allows 12 reps per set. And this was in women! So liftingchallenging weights is not just for men, but also for the ladies. Another research study showed that a 30-minute, hard total-bodystrength training session can boost metabolism about 36 hours. You just don’t get that from slow cardio or light, “toning”isolation exericses, I’m sorry to say. But what if you are worried about “bulking up”? Just do one or twosets of 8 reps per exercise, rather than three or four. Bodybuilders know that high-volume training builds muscle. But ifyou don’t want massive amounts of muscle, just don’t do a lot ofvolume. That’s just one of the reasons I don’t use bodybuilderworkout programs for fat loss. Another way to avoid “bulking up” while still boosting yourmetabolism is to use more bodyweight exercises. As for exercise choice, say goodbye to biceps curls, hamstringcurls, and triceps kickbacks. Seriously, I couldn’t think of a moreuseless exercise for a fat loss program than triceps kickbacks. Stick to full body movements. Use squats, lunges, split squats, pushups, chinups, rows, etc. Remember, you don’t have a lot of time to workout. So you can’t bedoing bodybuilding splits from the 80’s that call for threeexercises for the long head of the triceps, and two exercises foreach of the anterior, medial, and posterior deltoid. That’s just not possible in the real-world. A pushup trains almostall those muscles, and more. It works your abs, chest, triceps, andshoulders. That’s the type of exercise that is going to help youget more fat loss results in less workout time. I train in the concept of a short time frame. That is, anyone thatwants to use my programs has less than 3 hours per week to devoteto structured exercise. So there just isn’t much room for isolationtraining in that time frame. But training should be fun too, and adding some curls as a rewardfor completing a hard workout is fine, but only if you want to. Youdon’t need those types of exercises to get results. But remember, isolation exercises are not actually going toburn fat, but they can build muscle and help you sculpt your body. Here’s the list of methods that lead to fat loss, in order ofimportance: i) Nutrition ii) Burning calories with interval training iii) Burning calories due to an increased metabolism from intervaltraining and strength training (with multi-muscle movements) As long as you understand that nutrition is the most importantfactor in fat loss, and that strength training is essential forsculpting your body, than you will have realistic expectations ofsuccess - based on how well you commit to each process. Craig Ballantyne is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and writes for Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness, Maximum Fitness, Muscle and Fitness Hers, and Oxygen magazines. His trademarked Turbulence Training fat loss workouts have been featured multiple times in Mens Fitness and Maximum Fitness magazines, and have helped thousands of men and women around the world lose fat, gain muscle, and get lean in less than 45 minutes three times per week. Infidelity: Spying is NOT Revenge

May 9th, 2008 by rubencreasman

By Dr. Robert Huizenga Do not use what you find on your cheating spouse as ammunition for revenge. Sure, you may have wonderfully violent fantasies of what you would really like to do to him/her and the other person. This is very normal. But, dont act them out. Using what you find to extract revenge will only lengthen the time of pain and anger. It will undermine your integrity as a person, lower your personal standards and make you exceedingly unattractive. Resist the temptation to sling the mud! Keep what you find to yourself. The obvious signs of a cheating spouse disturbed you. You spy because the truth will set YOU free. The quickest cleanest way to break free from the extramarital affair is to set your focus on you as you navigate your way through the difficult weeks and months. The sooner the two of you can face each other, without outside input or influence, the better off you and the relationship will be. There usually is no reason to share new found information about cheating husbands or cheating wives with family, friends, children or the spouse of the other person. A concern about sexually transmitted diseases or health risks might be an exception. If it is important to share such information, do so without much fanfare or drama. And of course, if you pursue legal action, any information obtained through spying might be helpful to your attorney. Some evidence does carry weight in particular states or districts.
